##Worklog PRO Timesheet User Manual We try to improve 3 things with Worklog PRO Timesheet:
###Periodic Work Logs Sometimes our tasks spans more than one day. But JIRA’s build in work log mechanism requires you to enter work logs day by day. Worklog PRO allows you to enter a specific amount of time to all the days within a given range.
In addition to allowing you to enter worklog for current issue, this dialog allows you to log work to any issue in JIRA. At top of the dialog a predefined list of filters is displayed that makes locating issues easier. Any keyword you have search in the issue box will be searched within the selected filter.
###Worklog Timer It is sometimes difficult to estimate how much time you have spent on an issue. Also in some type of issues you may need very accurate timing, for you are charging your customers according to time you spent. Worklog PRO includes a timer that is attach to bottom of JIRA’s screen. Just start it before starting to work on an issue and it will interactively count how much you have spent. When you stopped the counter it will display the work log entry screen. One additional usage of this counter is motivation, seeing time passing will motivate you to work harder. As said, “You may be delayed, but time will not”.
###Worklog by User Panel A lot of people forget to enter work logs to issues, especially if they are not the one who is resolving the issue. Most of the time, in addition to person resolving the issue, a lot of people is involved during the lifecycle of an issue. Person reporting the issue or people involved in the discussion all spent time on the issue. Plugin makes it a lot easier to find out the issues you involved somehow, list the issues, search for a keyword. Even it could show you only the issues you have involved but not entered any work log yet. While looking an issue you can optionally include sub-tasks of it in worklog totals. To include worklogs entered for sub-tasks of an issue just check “Include sub-tasks”.
###Timesheet Timesheets are grouped into two categories, project timesheet and user timesheet. As long as you have permission to view worklogs you can look other peoples timesheet or other projects timesheet. Timesheets are also grouped by time as weekly timesheet or monthly timesheet. For example you can look at a projects weekly timesheet or monthly timesheet. We are continuously adding new timesheet views and in the near future we will be adding custom filters and durations. Timesheet highlights weekends with a different color than week days. Also current day is also highlighted with a different color. At the bottom of each table you will see daily and weekly totals. Also total of each issue or person (depending on the timesheet type) will be shown in the total column. At the bottom of the total column you will see total of all efforts shown on the timesheet, that is grand total. Depending on the timesheet type you will see several chars at the bottom of the page, for example for the project timesheet you will see worklog effort per user as bar chart and worklog effort per issue type as bar chart. If you hover on the bar you will see formatted effort information, like “2 weeks 3 days”.
###Excel Export Excel exports contain 2 sheets. First sheet show timesheet information grouped by issue and date. The second sheet contains raw worklog data for extra processing if you need. Raw excel export is especially useful if you need your own processing on worklogs, such as billing. Worklog PRO allows you to enter exact time of the work, that is hour and minute is also entered if you need to, you can implement hour of day based billing or any other billing schema you want.
Timesheet export of excel contains summary of the period in terms of issues worked on or people working on the project. You can have a birds eye of view of where you time is spent.
###Printing Like nearly all functionality of Worklog PRO printing is also done from the menu on top right corner. Printing removes all colors and provide a clean view on paper. With the same functionality you can export timesheet to a pdf if you install a pdf driver.
After you select print option from the menu, you will see a system dependent print dialog. Monthly timesheets are best seen on A3 or landscape A4 paper. If you want it to fit on a small area, you can use
Printing you timesheets will also print corresponding charts. Depending on the size of the paper they may appear on another page. In the future there will be a print option to enable and disable of chart printing.
###Themes and Backgrounds Entering timesheet is not a fun activity, with themes and background we are allowing personalization of timesheet view to motivate people. You can select any predefined color schema and background combination. Color schema of each theme is also shown on the theme selection menu. For example if you look at the following screenshot you will see theme with red background has a white foreground colors for text. Themes may change background color, foreground color and the font. At the moment you can’t define your own theme. To return to default theme use the theme with white background color.
To remove background and return to JIRA’s default background use “Clear” button at the bottom of background selection dialog. When you click on a background you will see a blue check mark on it, and clicking “Apply” button in that state will change your background to marked one.
